Rights to classic Bond Theme Music
« Thread Started on May 29, 2009, 3:45pm »

Hello fellow Bond Fans!

Would anyone be able to tell me who I would need to contact if I wanted to use the classic James Bond Theme music as well as a track from OHMSS, for a personal project of my own?

It is all in good taste and would not tarnish the image of the franchise, however I have had trouble finding out who to approach.

I know that Monty Norman is the official author of the piece but I have had a look online and could not find any contact details for him or EON.

If you can help or want to know more, please get in touch!

Thanks

You need to seek permission from the copyright holders/publisher, and in some cases the MPCS.

Best to start with the Performing Rights Society(PRS), who will tell you who you need to contact to seek permission, as they have records of all member's compositions and who they are held with. All composers have to be members of PRS. That's where they pick up their Royalty cheques from.

Bond-wise, EMI Music Publishing, at a guess..... If it's an American author they will be with ASCAP.

Good luck

Mr Benn
